Mothers and the Columbus Coalition for the Homeless are the latest recipients of a Shalom Grant from the Social Justice Committee. This Sunday, the Marsha Donner Mother’s Day Event will celebrate mothers who are or formerly were homeless at LifeCare Alliance with a brunch, flowers, gift favor bags, keepsake photos, and children’s books. The Coalition’s mission is to empower the homeless to achieve greater self-sufficiency, advocate on behalf of homeless persons and organizations that serve them, and work together to educate the central Ohio community about the devastating effects of homelessness on individuals and families.
Funding from the Social Justice Endowment Fund of the Columbus Jewish Foundation, a JewishColumbus Partner, provides support for the Shalom Grants program to meet special and emergency situations in Greater Columbus. Becoming a “Rose Sponsor” of the Mother’s Day event brings the total number of Shalom Grants to 121.
