Studies have shown that millennials lag behind their parents in how they deal with money. Millennials will require many skills to succeed in today’s world, and chief among them will be understanding how to handle their money, no matter what career path they follow. Andrew O. Smith’s book, Financial Literacy for Millennials, provides a comprehensive, smart, and accessible knowledge base for Young Professionals. In his talk, Smith will cover many of the concepts he details in his book: budgeting, credit, debt, savings, and investment, as well as life lessons such as career planning, starting a business, Internet fraud, and avoiding financial scams.
Smith has been advising about money, investments, and financial planning since he was a student when he founded one of the first college investment clubs in the country. He has earned a bachelor’s finance degree from University of Pennsylvania’s prestigious Wharton School of business and an engineering degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Engineering and Applied Science. Smith holds an MBA from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business and a JD from the Law School at the University of Chicago.
