Opportunity to Create Understanding for Mutual Respect and Peace

Since the October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorist attacks on Israel, antisemitism has surged to unprecedented levels worldwide—including right here in Columbus. Now more than ever, it is essential to empower the next generation to build allyship, stand strong in their Jewish identity, and confidently counter antisemitism.

In response, Jewish Federations of North America and Be The Narrative—a nonprofit dedicated to increasing Jewish awareness in classrooms and combating antisemitism—have launched a groundbreaking pilot program Student to Student as part of the national Community Relations initiative.

Student to Student brings Jewish high school juniors and seniors into schools where exposure to Jewish peers is minimal, fostering dialogue and understanding.

“I always leave presentations with an incredible sense of accomplishment, realizing that through this program, I really could change some of the problems in the world today.

Student to Student Presenter

The Program

Groups of three or four Jewish teens, representing the Reform, Conservative, and Orthodox branches of Judaism, give presentations to students in area high schools. These presentations are intended to resonate with classroom students since they are given by peers and spark lively discussions.

Presenters share their personal narratives while discussing a range of topics, including the following:

  • The Jewish life cycle
  • Sabbath / Shabbat
  • Jewish dietary practices
  • Hebrew language
  • Antisemitism and the Holocaust
  • Personal connections to Israel
  • Jewish holidays
