Mitzi & Henry Saeman B’nai Tzedek Fund
As Bar & Bat Mitzvah students prepare for their big day, one of the lessons they learn is the importance of Tzedakah. JewishColumbus provides a program for all Bar & Bat Mitzvahs that is focused on this important Jewish value.
B’nai Tzedek Funds can be opened with an initial family contribution of $125 or more – this typically comes from Bar/Bat Mitzvah gifts. Through the generosity of Mitzi & Henry (z”l) Saeman, the initial family contribution is supplemented with a contribution of $250. In addition, JewishColumbus provides a contribution of $125.
This innovative program is one way JewishColumbus invests in local teens by providing tools designed to encourage a life-long commitment to Tzedakah. B’nai Tzedek, a program of the Columbus Jewish Foundation, introduces youth to the world of charitable giving through establishing their own Fund. As a B’nai Tzedek Fund Holder, they learn about how their financial gifts (philanthropy) can help others and better our community and the world.
