Linda Kass

I am the founding owner of the independent bookstore, Gramercy Books. I’m also a writer of historical fiction, having written three novels to date, with a fourth expected out in 2026.

I grew up on Columbus’s east side. Trained as a journalist, I began my career as a magazine reporter and correspondent for regional and national publications, then spent a decade working in corporate communications and public affairs within the cable television and broadcasting industries in Detroit and New York City. I returned to Columbus in 1987.

In the Columbus community, I’ve served several area nonprofits and have become known as a strong advocate of education, literacy, and the arts. I’ve held leadership roles on the boards of the Bexley Schools, Bexley Education Foundation, Capital University, Columbus Symphony Orchestra, Kidsohio.org, United Way of Central Ohio, and The Ohio State University. Before I opened Gramercy Books in 2016, I created and led a successful Bexley author series for nine years, bringing internationally acclaimed authors to the community. That program is now under the auspices of Bexley Public Library.

Along with curating all of the book-related events at Gramercy Books, I currently serve as an assistant editor for the online literary magazine, Narrative, am on the Editorial Board of Trillium, an imprint of Ohio State University Press, a Trustee of Kenyon Review, and the OSU Foundation. For the past 16 years, I’ve also participated as a road cyclist supporting Pelotonia, a grass roots cycling event that supports cancer research.
