Jewish Disability Awareness, Acceptance & Inclusion Month (JDAIM)

Celebrating Inclusion and Jewish Unity in Columbus

Jewish Disability Awareness, Acceptance, and Inclusion Month (JDAIM) is a time for the Jewish community to come together in celebration of diversity and belonging. It is an opportunity to raise awareness, deepen understanding, and foster meaningful inclusion for all individuals, including those with disabilities. In Columbus, Ohio, JDAIM underscores the strength and unity of our Jewish community, inspiring us to create spaces where everyone feels valued and connected.

This February, JewishColumbus and its partners have curated a series of events that reflect the essence of JDAIM and the power of community. On Thursday, February 13, families with children ages 0–10 are invited to the JCC for Growing Together: Embracing Inclusion on Tu B’Shevat from 5–7 PM. This special evening will feature inclusive, family-friendly songs, stories, expressive art, and activities designed to engage and celebrate children of all abilities. It’s a beautiful way to honor Tu B’Shevat while reinforcing the importance of inclusion in our youngest generation.

Another highlight of the month is Judaism Through the Disability Lens with Charlie Kramer, taking place February 21–23 at Tifereth Israel. Charlie, a legally blind musician and spiritual leader, will guide our community through conversations about belonging and inclusion, offering transformative moments of learning, prayer, and reflection. Events include Shabbat services, discussions on disability and belonging, and unique experiences such as Havdalah with music that brings his perspective to life.

There is a Shabbat dinner and presentation on February 21st at 6:45 pm at Tifereth Israel, find tickets here.

Together, these events demonstrate our shared commitment to building an inclusive and welcoming Jewish community in Columbus. By creating spaces where everyone can participate, learn, and grow, we strengthen the bonds that unite us and honor the diversity that enriches our collective Jewish experience.

Visit our Community Calendar for more details about these events.
